Shirakawago and Takayama

The village of Shirakawago was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1995 for being a remarkable example of the view or accumulations of a certain form of buildings and architectural techniques that illustrate a certain period, which highly important in the history of human beings. Takayama is the city in the mountanious Hida region of Gifu prefecture, the city is also commonly referred to as Hida-Takayama

Old Town

Enjoy Sannomachi streets, to the south of the old town, survives in a particularly pretty state, with many old buildings that have been converted into cafes, shops, and sake breweries.

Ogimachi

Ogimachi is the biggest village and the most visited site in Shirakawa-go. The village provides dozens of well-preserved gassho-zukuri, some of which are more than 250 years old. The farmhouse has been transformed into a restaurant, museum, and minshuku (the traditional accommodation.)

Shiroyama View Point

Enjoy the beauty of the Ogimachi landscape and ancient village in Shirakawago from a Shiroyama viewpoint. This is the best spot to take a breath and be amazed by the entire Shirakawago.
