Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System
Based on the New Border Measures, from June 10, 2022, foreign nationals who apply for a new entry into Japan are allowed if the receiving organizations located in Japan complete prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS).
What is ERFS?
ERFS is a system used for online applications for new foreigners. This is a necessary procedure for foreign nationals who may want to enter Japan for the first time for a short-term stay (less than three months) and a long-term stay (continued from March 1). To be eligible, applicants must have a receiving organization located in Japan.
What is ERFS certificate?
The ERFS certificate is applied for by your receiving organisation via the Ministry of Health. Your receiving organisation provides support in providing information on necessary quarantine measures when entering Japan and securing accommodations for quarantine, confirming quarantines and health statuses
